NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford man faces charges after a run-in with police.

New Bedford Police officers on patrol in the area of Ruth and Roosevelt Streets at around 3:13 p.m. on Tuesday observed a man leaving a home and acting suspiciously before entering a vehicle.

Police stopped the vehicle and found the driver, Xavier Thompson, 24, of 31 Crapo Street, Apt. 2, New Bedford, in possession of crack cocaine.

Police arrested Thompson and charged him with possession of a Class B substance and operating a motor vehicle after suspension of license.
