After a brief investigation, and a number of tips from the public, police have arrested a man in connection with a combination shoplifting and carjacking incident Tuesday.

Police say they've arrested 32-year-old Jason Gaudencio of Woodlawn Street in New Bedford, after he was identified by multiple sources as the man pictured in Market Basket surveillance video.

Police say Gaudencio swiped six bottles of Tide detergent from the grocery store Tuesday afternoon, and then threatened a Fairhaven man to drive him from the scene.

Gaudencio has been arraigned on charges of shoplifting, carjacking, and kidnapping.
