A New Bedford man is under arrest, charged with breaking into the home of a former high school friend.

Det. Sgt. Victor Mendes says 31 year old Steven Gomes of Smith Street was arrested Tuesday after a resident saw Gomes leaving the County Street apartment with stolen property and provided police with a description.

Among the items taken were video games and some jewelry.

A resident told the Standard Times, he knew Gomes from high school and had recently approved his Facebook friend request.

Gomes is charged with breaking and entering in the daytime, larceny from a building and other charges.
