Authorities confirm that a small plane has crashed into a tree on Cuttyhunk Island off the coast of Massachusetts.

The Federal Aviation Administration and state police confirmed that the plane crashed Wednesday morning.

Neither agency had any information on injuries.

New England Cable News showed video of firefighters spraying the small plane with water, but there was no fire or smoke.

The sparsely populated island, less than one square mile in area, is part of the town of Gosnold, and is about 12 miles south of New Bedford on the state's south coast.
