A seemingly authentic letter has been circulated to many Fairhaven businesses, attacking the editor of a local publication. But, upon closer inspection, the letter aims to cripple the weekly free newspaper, "Fairhaven Neighborhood News", by placing the blame on the Fairhaven Business Association.

The letter, actually signed Fairhaven Business Associates, alleges editor Beth David discourages customers from patronizing businesses that advertise in her paper, because she has personal grudges against the owners.

The fraudulent letter goes on to call David a bigot, a racist, and a lesbian. David tells WBSM News she can take the name-calling.

David says she's never discouraged people from doing business with her advertisers.

She has filed a formal complaint with police.
