The New Bedford Council on Aging and the Coalition for Animals have a new pet project: supporting a senior citizen pet food pantry. For many who reach their golden years, a furry friend and companion can make all the difference in the world. However, many low-income seniors choose to go without their own food so their pets can eat!

Any low-income New Bedford senior, 60 and up, who qualifies is eligible to receive pet food, kitty litter, and other supplies. An EBT card, fuel assistance designation or similar document is needed.

If you can help by making a donation of pet food, etc., or if you are in need of receiving pet food and supplies, please call Karen Main at the Buttonwood Senior Center at (508) 991-6170.
