The exciting news is the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower is coming Friday and Saturday, August 12th and 13th. Unfortunately, that old devil moon is going to be in the way during predawn hours, when the meteors are normally flying most abundantly! The other thing is the rumor isn't true. Word has been spreading that this year's meteor show would be the most spectacular in 96 years! It's not true.

The Perseid's are usually pretty colorful, but this year the bright moonlight will be drowning out a lot of it! Bottom line: With the moon intruding on the predawn hours, the year 2017 is not as favorable as it could be for watching the annual Perseid Meteor Shower. The next show, the Draconid Meteor Shower, is coming October 7 and 8, 2017. Don't forget to make a wish!
