The New England Patriots have announced that they have signed fullback Glenn Gronkowski to a future contract.

Gronkowski, who is the younger brother of the team's star tight end Rob Gronkowski, spent for separate stints on the Pats' practice squad throughout the 2016 season.

After being signed as a undrafted free agent by the Buffalo Bills ahead of the 2016 campaign, Gronkowski broke camp on Buffalo's 53-man roster. He was cut on September 12, however, and signed on with New England as a member of its practice squad for the first time on October 1.

The former Kansas State fullback will now go to camp with the Pats and look to crack the team's active roster.
