Reports have surfaced that the New England Patriots attempted to trade their first round pick (32nd overall) as part of a package to acquire New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

According to Josh Katzenstein of The Times-Picayune, the Patriots' offer did not reach the high price tag New Orleans has placed on their young star receiver.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network added that the proposed deal that New England offered up would have involved a swapping of picks between the two teams.

In his last two seasons, Cooks has emerged as a top flight wide out, catching at least 78 balls for over 1,100 yards in both campaigns. He has also totaled 17 scores over the last two seasons.

If the Pats were to get Cooks, he would slot in as a down field threat that would add big play capabilities to the already strong New England offense.
