The New England Patriots have signed third round draft pick, quarterback Jacoby Brissett to a 4-year rookie contract, according to the Boston Globe's Ben Volin.


With Brissett now firmly under contract, the

Brissett, who started his collegiate career at Florida before transferring to NC State, passed for 2,606 yards and 23 touchdowns last year. He also showed some scrambling ability, rushing 139 times for 370 yards and another six scores.

The 6-foot-4 quarterback slots in as the team's third quarterback on the roster behind Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo. Depending on the outcome of Brady's suspension appeal, Brissett could find himself as the second option behind Garoppolo for the team's first four games this season.
