With freezing temperatures expected for Sunday’s season finale against the New York Jets at 1 p.m., the New England Patriots are reminding fans blankets will be allowed into Gillette Stadium. Fans will need to have the blankets folded and draped loosely over their arm for easy inspection.

Hand and feet warmers are also allowed into the stadium, but battery-operated heated clothing isn’t.

The Patriots have already clinched the AFC East and with a win over the Jets will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Our weather partner, ABC-6 is predicting morning snow Sunday followed by a high of 18 with a low of 9 on Sunday. The pattern of cold weather has latched on to the South Coast and it isn’t expected to release its grip until the middle of next week at the earliest.

If you are going to the Patriots or doing outside actives, suggestions for staying warm include using the layered approach with your clothing. Women should switch to long underwear instead of wearing leggings.

Eat and drink foods and beverages that keep you warm like soups, spicy foods, hot coffee and tea, but avoid alcohol, which can decrease your core temperature and become dangerous to you.

Make sure you have your toes warm by wearing the proper footing and an extra pair of socks.

It won’t feel like you are at the beach, but make sure you are wearing sunglasses to protect your eyes from the glare.
