A new memoir from former Rhode Island Congressman Patrick Kennedy entitled "A Common Struggle" was released on Monday.  It details his battle with addictions and his relationship with his father, the late Senator Ted Kennedy.

"The Boston Globe" reports Kennedy says his father struggled with alcohol and suffered from post traumatic stress disorder due the assassinations of his brothers, President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert Kennedy.

Patrick Kennedy discussed the book during an interview Sunday night on CBS' "60 minutes" program.

In a statement, Ted Kennedy Jr, describes his brother's book as an "inaccurate and unfair" portrayal for the family. (Metro Networks Inc)
