TSM - Gov. Patrick (second from left) tours UMass Library after announcement of new Academic building on Dartmouth Campus

Another new building is being planned for UMass Dartmouth.

Governor Deval Patrick on Thursday announced his administration was setting aside $55 million for a new academic building on campus.

The exact site of the building has yet to be determined.

Officials say the building is needed to meet the needs of a growing student body. Just under 10,000 students currently attend UMass Dartmouth. That number is expected to grow to about 12,000 in the next few years.
