As the New England Patriots sit back and relax this weekend, thanks to a first round playoff bye, it seems that the team's defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is going where offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels won't; on an interview.

With a number of new head coaching vacancies both McDaniels and Patricia's names have been circulating quite a bit, since the end of the regular season. That's usually what happens when you've helped lead one of the league's best teams and the defending super bowl champions to a 12-4 record.

A day ago, news broke that McDaniels had decided to forgo the interview process, for now, so that he could focus his energy on New England's game plan for their divisional round game next Saturday afternoon. While McDaniels has taken that approach, Patricia has apparently decided to juggle both tasks, as he has reportedly interviewed with the Cleveland Browns for their head coaching position.

So what does this interview mean? Right now, not much.

Look, the hope of probably ever coordinator in the history of the game is to become a head coach and Patricia has put himself in position to be sought after by many teams, thanks to his tremendous work with the New England defense over the past few years.

At some point, just like McDaniels did once and probably will do again, Patricia will most likely take the next step with another team. That's something that no one can be angry about either, because he's done everything that's been asked of him here and he should get a shot to sink or swim as the top dog somewhere.

So if that's the big picture thought, the "right now" thought process has got to be that the Pats defense isn't really the team's problem right now, so for one day he should be good to take a trip and evaluate his future. Also, the Pats won't even be positive of who the are welcoming to Gillette next week until later tonight anyways, so it's not like he's missing big time valuable game planning time.

He'll also have a full week to game plan starting tomorrow.
