Parents May Not Be Informed Of Lice Breakout

This story has me “bugging out.” According to the Daily News, schools across the US are easing up on lice policies.

I personally am a bug loather, but as the mother of a little boy, I am notified of every ant, worm or caterpillar that crosses his path; you know, normal bugs. So what has prompted the schools to refrain from notifying parents when a child in the classroom has an outbreak of head lice?

The policy shift is designed to help keep children from missing class, shield children with lice from embarrassment and protect their privacy.

Although it is not dangerous, it is very annoying to have to treat it. I know that most kids at some point are exposed, but if you can avoid it, wouldn’t you want to?
