Due to the cold temperatures forecast PAACA announced that they got approval from the city to open their shelter Wednesday night.

Executive Director Carl Alves told WBSM's Phil Paleologos they got approval from the city to open and will be taking in those in need of shelter starting at 6:30 p.m.
For those who may have trouble getting to the shelter, Alves says there will be transportation available.
"Our vehicle will head down to Pilgrim Church, we've got our contacts down at Mercy Meals & More, we'll be there for 6:30 we will also swing by the truck where Mobile Loaves and Fishes is tonight," said Alves.
For those who do visit the shelter Alves says they'll be getting more than just a warm place to stay.
"We have some social workers that will be working with folks to try to help them identify what some of the challenges are and perhaps give them an opportunity to improve their situation," said Alves.
The shelter is located at 360 Coggeshall St. in New Bedford.
