The start of the school year for some Fairhaven students has been delayed, but not for long. Wood School students will begin classes on Tuesday at the Oxford School, after air quality tests taken earlier this week confirm the absence of black mold in the building.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Baldwin says the mold was a pre-existing condition in the building before staff members began setting up shop for the new school year.

A section of the building west of the cafeteria will be sealed off, as it is exposed to dirt, and could pose a threat if water seeps in.

Kindergarten students should report to the Oxford School at 10am Thursday for orientation. All other students attending Wood School via the Oxford building will begin their school year on Tuesday, September 4th.

And yes, students will have to make up the lost week at the end of the year.
