Two New Bedford 7-11 were target of overnight robberies within hours of each other.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says the first robbery took place at approximately 12:20 a.m. Tuesday when a man with a hunting knife walked into the 7-11 located 489 Rockdale Ave.

The man demanded money from the clerk and told her not to look at him before he fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The 28-year-old female clerk wasn't harmed.

Vicente described the suspect as a white man in his 50's, between 5 foot 7 and 5 foot 8, wearing a dark grey sweatshirt with matching sweatpants and sunglasses.

Two hours later the 7-11 on at 1499 Acushnet Ave. was robbed two hours later by a man described as a light skinned Hispanic male in his 30’s wearing a black hooded sweatshirt that was inside out and light colored pants.

The suspect ordered some cigarettes then displayed a firearm and demanded money before fleeing the scene with cash and cigarettes.

There is no evidence the robberies are linked.
