Over $5K in Drugs and Cash Seized by New Bedford Police
NEW BEDFORD - Over $5,000 in drugs and cash is seized by New Bedford Police.
Police say they carried out a search warrant at an apartment at 360 Ashley Boulevard Tuesday evening, shortly after 6 p.m.
In the home, police found 32 bags of heroin, weighing 21.8 grams, along with $3,354 in cash, a digital scale, and packaging materials. Police arrested Ferney Valencio, 51, the occupant of the apartment.
Valencio is charged with trafficking in heroin (Over 18 grams) trafficking in heroin in a school zone (Global Learning Charter Public School) and possession of heroin with intent to distribute, subsequent offense.
Valencio was previously convicted of possession to distribute a Class B substance and was sentenced to serve five to seven years in prison in 1995.
