Orchid Finally Blooms

For years my mom has been growing and collecting orchids.  She has a room full of them, they are beautiful when they bloom.

 She even belongs to an orchid society that meet a few time a year to show off and talk about the plants.   A little over a year ago I decided that I would give a shot to owning an orchid.  When I bought the plant it was in full bloom and looked great.  After a couple of months when it was done blooming the flower just sat on the window sill and did nothing.  We would water it once in a while but the plant seemed to go dormant.  One day when visiting mom seeing her plants in their glory I asked what was the secret, she told me the plant needs a little food and maybe put it in a bigger pot.

 We went home immediately bought some orchid food and a new pot, transplanted it gave it some food and put it back on the window sill.  A few days later we noticed that the plant was turning green again and was starting to get some buds on it.  Needless to say we were very happy with the results!  The first bud just opened and it is beautiful, we can't wait for the next couple to open.  I don't know if I will be able to be like mom and get a room full of them blooming but it was fun to get this one blooming again and be able to take in its beauty.
