Oprah ‘Sorry’ for Switzerland’s Flap

Oprah Winfrey says she's "sorry" that her account about a recent experience with racism in Switzerland "got blown up" in the media.

Winfrey had told "Entertainment Tonight" that while in an upscale shop in Zurich a clerk refused to show her a $38,000 handbag, telling her that she couldn't afford it.

Winfrey says, "I was just referencing it as an example of being in a place where people don't expect that you would be able to be there." Winfrey says that's why she purposefully did not mention the name of the store, and she says, "I'm sorry that I said it was Switzerland."

After the interview with Winfrey aired, Swiss tourism officials and the boutique owner apologized, but Winfrey says there's no need.

She says she wasn't wearing diamond studs or expensive Christian Louboutin shoes, but she says, "You should be able to go in a store looking like whatever you look like and say 'I'd like to see this.' That didn't happen."
