The Stanley Street Treatment and Resource Center in Fall River played host to a group of State Senators Wednesday as part of the "Commonwealth Conversations" tour.

The Senators visit focused on the region's substance abuse epidemic.

Fall River Mayor Sam Sutter suggested lawmakers find funding for a drug education program in middle schools, and a pharmacist urged officials to "beef up" the drug monitoring program for pharmacies.

District Attorney Thomas Quinn said his office would do what it could to work with treatment providers and others to lessen opioid abuse in Bristol County
