OPINION| Brian Thomas: Bye Bye Al [Video]

I know. We're all tired of these sex harassment/assault scandals. Well, the bomb shell that hit our nation's capital Thursday sent shock waves from Hollywood to NYC.

It started when KABC anchor Leeann Tweeden recounted a story from 2006. She was a budding model entertaining troops in the Middle East during a USO tour. Tweeden was working with a writer-actor from Saturday Night Live fame by the name of Al Franken, According to Leeann, Franken penned a script where he had to kiss the model. She claims Al wanted to rehearse. After several refusals, Tweeden gave in. The two were involved in separate relationships at the time. Franken was married.

As you'll hear in the piece, it got worse for Tweeden. A picture reveals Franken fondling Leeann while she slept. To add insult to injury, Franken had someone take a picture of the accosting scene, along with his cute, smiling face.

Al Franken needs to tender his resignation as a U.S. Senator. True, the event took place eleven years ago. Correct, he was not in the senate at that time. I know Al Franken is a prankster and comedian. The sad reality is we often understand his side of the story, while ignoring hers. According to Tweeden and Franken admits his advance was unwanted. The photo adds insult to injury.

Tweeden and the nation are owed more than an apology. Franken needs to step down. I can't take the man seriously. His constituents should be screaming holy cow. And, the liberal leading ladies of Hollywood can only be shaking their collective head in utter disgust. Al, the joke is on you. Step aside for the good of Tweeden, your constituents, female USA and the nation. Go home and write another script. Rate it PG.
