One Hospitalized In Accident With New Bedford Fire Truck

An accident involving a New Bedford fire truck caused one person to be hospitalized.

Detective Captain Steve Vicente tells WBSM News that the accident took place around 8 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Route 18 and Potomska St.

Vicente says it appears that the ladder truck was heading back to the station when it collided with a white Chevrolet pickup truck that may have run a red light.

The pickup truck's driver was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the pickup truck was towed from the scene.

Vicente says a traffic light pole was also knocked down.

None of the occupants in the ladder truck were injured.

Vicente says the incident remains under investigation.
