Although he's showing no sympathy for the rioters in Baltimore, President Barack Obama is expressing deep frustration with recurring black deaths at the hands of police.

He says there have been ``too many instances'' in which police appear to interact with people -- mostly black, mostly poor -- ``in ways that raise troubling questions.'' He says it's not new, but there's new awareness from cameras and social media.

Obama says the violence in Baltimore yesterday took attention away from ``legitimate concerns'' over the death of Freddie Gray following his arrest.
