I'm not sure if anything like this ever happened to any Southcoast nurses. If so, please contact me. In the meantime, a woman used social media to find the nurse who comforted her as a baby suffering from severe burns. The nurse, who cared for her 38 years ago at Albany Medical Center in upstate New York when she was a baby, was miraculously found because of social media and one woman's resolve. A few black-and-white photos were taken at the time in 1977 of the young nurse cradling infant Amanda Scarpinati, who'd suffered severe burns on her head in an accident. Scarpinati was left with disfiguring scars and would often take solace in the photos when she was targeted by other kids over her injuries. She'd unsuccessfully searched for the unidentified nurse 20 years ago, but recently tried again using social media, and finally found Susan Berger within a day. The two were had an emotional reunion, and when asked if it might be the start of a lifelong friendship, Scarpinati answered, "It already has been a lifelong friendship. She just didn't know."
