NEW BEDFORD - Driving a noisy car didn't pay off for two New Bedford residents.

Massachusetts State Police say troopers pulled over a white Mercedes C320 on Country Street in New Bedford Tuesday night for an extremely loud and defective exhaust. Police searched the vehicle and found 20.8 grams of heroin and $1,000 in cash.

The two occupants of the vehicle were arrested. They're identified as 26-year-old Melvin Rodriguez-Myers, who did not possess a valid driver's license, and 53-year-old Christine Benner. Both face charges of trafficking in heroin and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
