Just say no to feel good residency laws. They work like this. If you work for a city/town government, the city/town by-law forces you to move into said city/town.

Some folks claim if the worker buys a home in the city/town, they'll be taxed in said city/town. A true point. But, why would a city/town be looking outside their jurisdiction for workers? Seemingly, they already have good residents to fill the positions. Always seems to work with elected officials. Can't the same tactic work (no pun intended) for staffers and managers?

My high school principal moved into town. Some students found out where he lived and tore up his lawn by driving on it repeatedly peeling out. If that happens to a school employee, imagine what can happen to a police officer when some bad gals/guys find out where the officer lives---all because laws force city/town workers to live where they work. I say search only within your city/town, and if you must hire from outside, quit worrying about where they reside.
