No Longer Going To Be Illegal To Posses Small Amounts of Marijuana in Rhode Island

As of Monday, it will no longer be illegal to be found in possession of small amounts of marijuana.

According to ABC 6, last June the RI Governor Lincoln Chafee made it just a $150 fine to be caught with one ounce of marijuana. The fine will reportedly be issued in the form of a ticket. You pay the fine, and you're all set. No more criminal penalties.

However if a minor is caught with it, the parents will be notified. The minor will then have to take a drug and alcohol education course, and then pay the $150 fine.
