NFL May Start Season Without Current Referees
The 2011/2012 NFL season began with a player lockout. The 2012/2013 season could begin with another lockout, this time involving the referees.
It looks like replacement officials are in the cards for the start of the NFL season. The league said on Monday that they are not making any progress with the Referee Association. There are a few issues that are holding things up.
The biggest issue seems to be that the NFL wants some part time officials to made into full time officials. Another issue at hand is that the league wants to bring in other officials, including three more crews, so that they will have more officials in the future.
The league already has preseason game set with the replacement officials, and are ready to go into the full season.
