Most Americans say they're actively trying to avoid drinking soda. According to a new Gallup Well-Being poll, 63% of respondents say they try to keep sugary drinks out of their regular diets. The numbers are up from a decade ago. In 2004, only 51% said they were avoiding soda, compared to 41% in 2002.

Overall, most are knowledgeable about the dangers and benefits of food groups. Over 90% say they try to eat fruits and vegetables, and most also try to have some kind of poultry and fish in their diets.

Aside from soda, respondents keep the most distance from sugar, fats and salts. Organic foods are becoming more popular as well, with 45% saying they try to included organic foods in their diet.
