Nearly forty people gathered at the corner of Sixth and Elm Streets in New Bedford Wednesday afternoon, standing in support of immigration reform.

May 1st marked International Workers' Day, a day that typically highlights the contributions of union and immigrant workers.

Luis Gomez, member of the Student Immigration Movement, tells WBSM News what he considers the best way to further immigration reform.

The May Day event was organized by the UMass Dartmouth Labor Education Center, Local SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, the Coalition for Social Justice, the Community Economic Development Center, and the Greater Southeastern Mass. Labor Council.
