The Plainville teen accused of encouraging a Mattapoisett man to committ suicide appears to have helped him plan his suicide.

You just have to do it.[/pullquotes]In a court filing from the Bristol County District Attorney's office Friday, text messages between 18-year-old Michelle Carter and then 18-year-old Conrad Roy III detail the days leading up to his suicide in July of 2014.

You just have to do it.

In the conversations, Roy proposed to kill himself by way of carbon monoxide poisoning from his truck's exhaust. When Roy questioned Carter on whether it would work, Carter responded "Yeah, it will work....You will die within half an hour. You lose consciousness with no pain." Roy then proposed using a generator from work with Carter responding, "You could take that in your truck and take some benadryls just in case."

Carter appeared to be impatient with Roy at times, "You're just making it harder on yourself by pushing it off. You just have to do it."

The text conversations also revealed more of the nature of the relationship between Carter and Roy. In one string of conversations, Roy was having second thoughts about suicide, with Carter replying multiple times, seeming to encourage Roy to end his life. One of the texts from Carter to Roy reads, "There's no way you can fail. You're strong." And another, "You are my beautiful guardian angel forever and ever. I'll always smile up at you knowing that you aren't far away." Carter also appeared to tell Roy his parents would be saddened by his death, but would soon understand and accept it.

Carter's defense is looking to have the involuntary manslaughter charge against her dropped on the grounds that prosecutors have insufficient evidence. That hearing is scheduled for Monday at 9am in New Bedford District Court.
