New Research Strategies Announced At UMass Dartmouth

The University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth is looking for ways to attract more research dollars. But with Federal research grants being eliminated, University spokesman John Hoey tells WBSM News, officials are looking at a different strategy…..

One such partnership was announced Tuesday by UMass Dartmouth Chancellor Divina Grossman. The Marine Fisheries Institute will join with the UMass Dartmouth School of Marine Science and Technology in New Bedford. Officials say the partnership should result in new opportunities for attracing reseach dollars. On another research front, the Chancellor has suspended operations at the university’s Nuerotoxin lab, till a review of its financial and safety plan is completed. Officials say it cost about $1 million a year to keep that lab in safety compliance.
