The New Bedford City Council has approved an ordinance regulating food trucks in the city.  The vote was 7-4.

The ordinance increases hours of operation, identifies areas where food trucks can operate, and jumps the annual fee to $600.  Ward Three Councilor Henry Bousquet co-authored the new law..

The Councilors who voted against the ordinance said they did so to protect restaurants in New Bedford's business districts.

The Council also amended the ordinance, calling on police to strictly enforce the new law, and crack down on trucks that do not follow the new rules.

The Council also saluted Suzanne Braga for her 20 years of working with neighborhood groups as a founder of Neighborhoods United.
