Former New Bedford Police Chief Ron Teachman may become chief in South Bend, Indiiana.

According to published reports,  Teachman is one of three finalists for the job.The finalists were announced Thursday by South Bend Mayor Peter Buttigieg, who will personally interview each candidate before making a decision.

Teachman served as Chief in New Bedford from June 2006 to April 2011. After leaving New Bedford, he trained police officers in Tajikistan as a project manager with the Emergence Group, a Washington-based company that, according to its website, designs and implements justice sector reform and democratic policing programs around the world. In February, Teachman was a finalist for the Chief's job in Racine, Wisconson.
