A South Bend Indiana TV station is reporting that former New Bedford Police Chief Ron Teachman has accepted the Chief's post in South Bend, Indiana, and will take the reins of that city's police department starting in January.

In a press release, South Bend Mayor Peter Buttigieg says that Chief Teachman is an experienced law enforcement professional with a proven track record of managing a large department and building strong partnerships to reduce violence.  There was no immediate word on his salary. South Bend is a city of about 101,000 located near Notre Dame University in Northern Indiana.
