The board members of the New Bedford Harbor Development Commission unanimously approved a three-year contract for a new director Tuesday. Jeffrey Stieb of Weymouth, a former attorney for Massachusetts Port Authority, will start as the Port's New Director Wednesday. Under the terms of the contract, he will earn a salary of $99,000 per year, an increase of $8,000 over previous director Kristin Decas.  Mayor Jon Mitchell, who appointed Steib tells the Standard Times that  the salary is low compared to the same position at similar ports. Stieb's first move as Director was to recommend a promotion to Deputy Director for Edward Anthes-Washburn to Operations Director. He has served as Acting Port Director since January. The Mayor says the Commissioners would take up the matter at their next meeting.
