The Superintendent of Fairhaven Schools says the new Wood School on Sconticut Neck Road is putting smiles on the faces of town residents.

Local and state officials held an official grand opening for the school Friday morning, though classes began earlier this week.

Superintendent Dr. Robert Baldwin tells WBSM News it's not just students and parents giving the school high marks.

The Massachusetts School Building Authority is reimbursing the town 63.5% of the $24.6 million school.

Baldwin hopes the MSBA can come through with even more funding, absolving the town of some of the $10 million or so dollars wrapped up in the school.
