With the busy holiday shopping season coming, Swansea, Massachusetts is taking some protocol on safety during Black Friday. The Swansea City Council is considering a new bylaw that would make things safer for shoppers, but a bit more difficult with retailers.

The law would require retailers that want to open between midnight and 4 A.M. on Black Friday to submit safety forms to the city at least 60 days before Black Friday, and get police protection 15 days prior to it. If they failed to do so, they could face a $300 fine.

Officially the vote will take place on October 29th. It's objective to keep shoppers, and store employees safe.
