The SouthCoast Business Alliance is beyond excited to be able to host, for the 13th year, the annual New Bedford Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 13 starting at 3 p.m.

This year, the event is taking place at an all new location! City Pier 3 (behind the Black Whale) is the event’s new stomping ground. As always, the event will have a myriad of local and national brews for sampling and purchasing. They’ll have a limited number of steins on a first-come, first-served basis.

The SCBA prides itself on this event being a platform for talented local artists. This year’s line-up includes The Pour Men, Craig DeMelo Band, 7 Day Weekend and a U2 tribute band, Joshua Tree. Great brews, great tunes and more importantly, great causes. Last year’s event was a huge success and the most well-attended yet. Their desire is to continue growing the event, as all proceeds go right back into the community.

Many local programs and organizations have lost funding that directly impact the youth of our community. The mission of the SCBA has always been to super-serve this often left behind segment of the population: youth at risk. Their contributions last year included support for after school reading and tutoring through the Dennison Memorial Center, donations to the Bristol County Children’s Advocacy Center, and many others.

Join the Oktoberfest party for what’s sure to be another spectacular event. If you’re a business owner, or just someone who understands the importance of supporting disadvantaged and disenfranchised youth, get involved.

Around Town With Phil is brought to you as a public service by Flagship Insurance.
