New Bedford Xtra Mart Robbery

New Bedford Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Xtra Mart on Durfee Street.

According to Detective Captain Steve Vicente, a lone male walked into the store at around 10 pm and placed a black handgun on the counter and demanded money. The 36 year old female clerk complied and the suspect escaped in a westerly direction on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

The clerk was not harmed  but she told police the suspect spoke with an accent,  was medium to dark skinned, stood about 5 foot 3 inches tall and wore a black hooded coat with grey stripes on the sleeve with the word "Boston" on the front.
