New Bedford Woman Organizing Singing Of National Anthem At Fort Phoenix

A New Bedford woman is organizing the singing of the national anthem at Fort Phoenix this weekend.

Melissa Costa says while she realizes that there are differing opinions about the NFL national anthem controversy, she wants to gather a group of people together to sing the Star Spangled Banner.  People interested in singing should arrive shortly before noontime on Saturday.

Costa is quick to point out that this is not meant to be a protest, but rather a show of patriotism at a time she feels that patriotism is on the decline.

Costa called the Rock and Fox Show this morning to share news of the event.  Since her appearance on the show, she says "this thing has kind of blown up.  I've got people that I don't even know telling me that they'll be there.  It's kind of exciting."
