New Bedford Woman Found Dead in Apartment

A New Bedford woman is dead of a suspected drug overdose.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says the woman's mother found the victim in her bed in a Reynolds Street apartment before 1am Friday. When police arrived, they found a spoon, a hypodermic needle, and a substance believed to be heroin in the apartment.

The 28-year-old woman had no prior reported overdoses.
