New Bedford Unemployment Rate Down For September
The State Office of Labor and Workforce Development has released the latest local unemployment numbers for September. Greater New Bedford’s unemployment rate dropped by one tenth of a point from August to September and stands at 9 point 8 per cent. It’s the second highest in the state to the Lawrence Methuen area with a rate of 10 point 9.
Although, Greater New Bedford’s rate dropped almost a full per centage point from last year. The City of New Bedford’s rate is 11 point 9 per cent, down from 12 point 5 from a year ago.
The number of unemployed dropped by about 500 workers from a year ago while employment is up by about one thousand people from a year ago in Greater New Bedford.
