New Bedford Teen Topples Gravestones

A New Bedford teen is charged in connection with vandalism at a local cemetery.

According to Police Detective Lt. John Chaves, 18-year-old Devin Valentim of Mount Vernon Street was charged with malicious destruction of property after a neighbor spotted him knocking over headstones in the Pine Grove Cemetery in the North End Wednesday morning.

When questioned, Valentim told police he knocked over two of the stones.

He is charged on four counts of malicious destruction.
