The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra is currently accepting applications for the 2017 Lillian B. Lamoureux Music Scholarship until Friday, April 22.

According to South Coast Today.com, the scholarship is open to all music students, ages 14 to 21.

Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in total. A junior scholarship will go to a high school student, and a senior scholarship will be awarded to a college student. Scholarships can be used to cover money for private music lessons, college tuition, or other expenses in music education.

The deadline for application, which includes two letters of recommendation, is due on Friday, April 22.

"Finalists will be invited to audition before the scholarship committee on Sunday, May 7, at UMass Dartmouth's School of Visual and Performing Arts. Scholarship applications can be downloaded from the NBSO website, www.nbsymphony.org. Questions should be directed to the NBSO at (508) 999-6276."
