The first of three scheduled community conversations took place last night at New Bedford's Roosevelt Middle School.

Parents and community members were invited to attend and take part in the discussion regarding the improving school system. Issues brought up included better guidance and improving New Bedford schools' image.

Superintendent Pia Durkin said the parents' insight plays a big part in their Accelerated Improvement Plan.

School spokesman Jon Carvalho said tonight's scheduled conversation at Keith Middle School will likely be postponed due to weather.
