Great news for New Bedford's younger set: the city has been named one of the country's top 100 places for young people to live in.

The award comes from the "America's Promise Alliance", and ranked New Bedford in the top 100 because of it's vast array of community programming aimed at helping the city's youth succeed.

Carl Alves, Executive Director of Positive Action Against Chemical Addiction helped the city secure the award. Alves tells WBSM News New Bedford is loaded with organizations that lend a hand to young people.

The award allows those programs to become eligible for larger grants in the future.
