Two New Bedford convenience stores were robbed Sunday, with witnesses providing police with nearly identical descriptions of the suspect involved.

According to police, Joseph's Market on Cottage Street was robbed just after noon on Sunday, by a tall, black male who appeared to be carrying a rifle in a black bag.

Later that night, Charlie's Convenience Store on Hemlock Street was robbed by a dark-skinned man with a knife. In both cases, the suspect made off with an undetermined amount of cash.

Witnesses say the men in the robberies wore dark grey hoodies, black masks, jeans, and construction boots. Police are still uncertain if the same man is responsible for both robberies, or if the descriptions are just coincidences.

If you have information on either robbery, call detectives at 508-991-6300 ext. 114 Or ext. 136.
